Weekend Camping Trip

I don't know about you, but summer is always a really hectic and gloriously over-full time for me.  It seems like there's never enough time in the day to accomplish all of the necessary tasks AND do all of the fun things, and then suddenly you blink and it's October.  I love everything that summer brings, but sometimes it makes me feel a bit manic;)

This summer is no different, and in fact is even a bit more insane due to a number of exciting and time consuming things happening in my life (more to come about this later).  I've been having a hard time not feeling overwhelmed the past couple of weeks with all of the work/life/generally-exciting-but-still-stressful-things happening, so when we managed to get away for a quick overnight campout I was super excited.

This river has been one of my favorite spots since I was a kid, and we had such a great time there.  Friends, swimming, sunshine, smores over the fire, and the chance to take a deep breath.  Aaaaaah.....

I hope your weekend was great and that you had a moment to stop and relax.

And the winner is......

Thank you so much to all of you who entered the Gratitude Giveaway!  It was so wonderful and inspiring to read about all of the things you guys are grateful for.  Taking a moment to reflect on what I'm grateful for always cheers me up, and I hope it did the same for you.

And now, the moment of truth!

The winner of the Giveaway is: Surso Sousa

Congratulations!

And thanks again to all of you, I'm so grateful for YOU.

Summer Bounty

Fresh summer veggies from the garden rank pretty high up there on my list of favorite things.  For as long as I can remember my parents have had a beautiful and prodigious vegetable garden in their yard.

When I was a kid I would help my dad occasionally (I remember I loved the Easter-egg-hunt-like process of digging up potatoes) and more often my brother and I could be found foraging in the rows, eating carrots straight from the ground and peas from the vine.

These days, whenever we spend time at my folks' house we all usually end up in the garden chatting, drinking wine, and picking a basket full of veggies to take home or add to our dinner.  Oh summer, sometimes I wish you would never end.

I hope your summer has been wonderful so far, and that you're eating your fill of local produce.

Wedding Invite Ilustration

My best friend from college is getting married next week and I am SO excited to head out to the East coast to celebrate with them!  I had the huge honor of creating an illustration for their invites, and I'm really happy with how it came out.  Yay for good friends, flowers, and LOVE!
